Current Chinese

(Growth of rice.)

IThe current rice production system uses some of the things that were used in the past for example, crop rotations are still used and they are used in more than just rice production. Also, plows are still used in order to break the hard ground and prepare it for planting. Rice started being traded to neighboring countries just like everything else, it evolved into something bigger. More rice was traded and more rice had to be made. Rice is now used as a traditional food during festivals due to its importance through the years.

What process was used to develop and implement this food production system?

Changes occurred not only in china but all over the world. Technology, economics, and other things drove this food production system to evolve into the biggest rice producer and distributer. Rice is needed to sustain many people now. This food production system seems to expand more and more as the years go by making its importance worldwide even bigger.

What drove them to this food production system?

What are the impacts of this food production system on humans and the environment?

Background Information

Rice also brought China plenty of power. China is now the world’s biggest importer of rice. This production company produced jobs in the field as well as in corporate offices handling the trade and monetary aspect of rice. Rice is currently planted using a rice-wheat rotation since china is also known to produce plenty of wheat. Rice fields rely a lot on the weather since rice needs plenty of water to grow. Rice has become an economical need when in the past, rice was a crop used for the survival and growth of individuals. It has gone form a crop we need to survive to a crop we want.

Is this food production system sustainable?

This food production system has a great impact on not only the economical status of its employers but of the world. The environment is not being directly damaged but, the way of exporting and importing things does damage it. Ships and other forms of transportation release harmful pollutants into the air and since china is the biggest rice supplier, a lot of the rice has to be transported to places. I think this is currently a sustainable food production system but, I don’t know if this food system will be sustainable within one hundred years because I see that the land might start to be over worked as the need for rice becomes bigger in order to sustain its own population as well as its trading records.

This food production system brings together many jobs for not only people in china but people worldwide. It brings jobs to field workers, office managers, tool suppliers, etc. This food production system has a great impact of not only the economical status of its employers but of the world. The environment is not being directly damaged but, the way of exporting and importing things does damage it.
