Some of the before and afters of our trash clean up!
A little of what I did.
As a volunteer at the Rio Salado Restoration Habitat, I picked up trash that is washed in because of the storm drains. The trash wrapped around trees, tangled in plants, and even under rocks. It was hard to differentiate between trash and dirt sometimes because of how much there was!
Limiting Factors
One of the main limiting factors that I found was volunteers. The Rio Salado area if immense and we only had a few volunteers. I think that is one of the biggest limiting factors because the more people there are the more that can be done to restore the area faster and prevent trash and other things to pile up until the damage is almost irreversible.
Impacts Made
Economical
The restoration event that I went to was using volunteer and partnered up with other organizations to make this event come true. No money was used it was non-profit and they do it almost every two weeks! They move down the river every time until they have covered all of it. This in my opinion also helps the city of Phoenix not waste money. It is a good way to keep things cost effective and clean
Overall Thoughts
I think the Rio Salado Restoration event has had good impacts environmentally, economically, and socially although, they need to do more to get the word out of their events so more people can come volunteer and more can be done to help the Rio Salado habitats.
Environmental
Social
People from all over Phoenix came out to volunteer with the Rio Salado Restoration from all different age groups. This event was a good way to get the community involved with the world around them and it is not very hard to get involved with it. The people were very friendly and respectful. I think this event had good social impacts on the people there and even to the people that go bike riding there because now, there won't be trash or as much trash.
From what I observed, the impacts seen were very good. Picking up trash, taking out invasive plants, and restoring natural habitats are all amazing impacts not only to the community but also to the environment around Rio Salado. Animals that live there are also impacted by this because they won't get tangled in the trash and invasive plants won't take over their food source or homes.

Objective Function-
Xbags of trash + M bags of grass= Y bunnies saved
1 bag of trash + 3 bags of grass= 5 bunnies saved
Constraints-
Hour per volunteer greater than or equal to the amount of trash bags and amount of Grass collected
Using math!
How To Make Rio Salado Restoration Better
I think that more could be done with a bigger amount of volunteers and for that to happen there need to be more awarness. I also think that more could be done if jobs were assigned rather than the person being able to pick a job the day of. I this these two things would help the volunteering and clean-up.
Global Water Partnership

Contact with other organization.
(Targer Language)
I decided to make contact with Global Water Partnership (GWP). GWP is a Global non-profit organization that deals with water issues depending on the location. Since my target language is Chinese, I decide to do a little more research about China relating GWP. In China, GWP is currently focusing on the amount of water that can be used in China and how much it will decrease as the population increases and trying to figure out ways to save water. Most water is used up and contaminated by industries so they are trying to solve this huge problem for China but targeting big water spenders.
How To Make GWP better
I thinkg that a good way to help the water is to get people involved. Make people more aware of what is happening not only in China but all over the world involving water.
